My front drive axles own broken on my 1998 z-71 4x4. can i take off the axles and still drive my truck?

Answer:

USA conceited is right if you take off the axle shafts the sealed hub berings will seperate while driving down the road causing the whole hub and wheel/tire to drop off the vehicle. the nut that holds the axle to the hub is what preloads the bearing.
I own seen it occur before.

Yes but you may end up causing more problems, non-existence larger only ABS light may come on. But it wont hart anything to my knowledge

Your front DRIVE SHAFT is broken?
yes you can take off it and only own a 2wd truck.

shouldnt be a difficulty -may cast a abs light but will drive and everything else usually unless you need the 4 disc drive

your timber saving will go up a bit, ever since it has smaller rolling resistance.

If you are talking about your CV shafts that go out from the diff to the wheels then NO. If your talking about the drive pole from the carry circumstances to the front diff then yes. If it is the drive pole then the u-joints can be replaced to a certain extent cheap. U-Joints are about $20 a piece.

yeah you can, i dont understand why the male above says you cant. the blazers/pick ups own a sealed bearing. ive known persons to not run them, and ive broken numerous cv joints offroad and drove it building no problem.

they are only like 50-60 bucks (at smallest they used to be) from autozone, only take the place of them if they are junk

It shouldnt be a difficulty as lengthy as the hubs arent locked. What I expectation to understand is how you did it.

No you need the pre fill of the cv joint

As distant as the hubs locked answer, this lorry does not own hubs!!!!!!!
As stated by the knowledgeable. You can not run the lorry lacking the CV shaft. The behavior will drop apart. They will not grip the weight of the lorry lacking the CV pole nut preloading them facing the CV pole stub. In assumption you could depart only the outer stub in and the behavior would be OK. But My object is. If you are going to take it separately to equal a$$ it. Then take it separately later to attach it. Why not only take it apart, pay out the $100 to $200 in parts and attach it. Then your not taking it separately and reassembling it twice.
